How to find the Right Foundation for your Skin Type?

Simply follow these tips to find the foundation that works best for your particular skin type. .

1. Recognize your skin type

Your skin is normal if your complexion is even, is neither too oily nor too dry, and is supple with few lines, creases and wrinkles.

Your skin is oily if your face shines all over, pores are large and/or open, suffers from blackheads and/or whiteheads and has minimal lines and wrinkles.

Your skin is combination if the T-zone (forehead and nose forming a T-shape) is oily, the cheeks is normal to dry, suffers from breakouts on chin, nose, cheeks or forehead and pores on the chin and cheeks are enlarged.

Your skin is dry if the pores are not visible, face looks and feels dry and tight, cheeks and/or chin are flaky and dry, and has lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth.

2. Choosing the formulation

There are the following textures of foundation. Depending on your skin type, you need to choose your foundation.

  1. Cream Foundation is ideal for Normal, combination and dry skin. It gives heavy coverage. It covers and conceals discolorations and imperfections on the skin providing a flawless finish. Use a make up sponge or a foundation brush
  2. Liquid Foundation is ideal for all skin types. It gives a dewy, satin or matte depending finish and evens out the skin tone by smoothing out any unevenness by adding moisture to the skin. Use a make up sponge or a foundation brush
  3. Pressed powder foundation is ideal for oily skin. It gives a Matte finish and evens out the skin tone, hides imperfections and absorbs excess oil. Use a powder brush with denser bristles
  4. Tinted Moisturizer is ideal for normal and dry skin. It is especially well suited for those who need extra hydration and just a touch of color to pull everything together. It lightly evens out the skin tone, while giving a true “no make up” look. Use a foundation brush.

If you have acne prone skin, there are oil-free foundations available that also contain salicylic acid. These can help combat acne.

Pick the one that works best for you and walk off with a glowing skin and confidence! Remember, it all starts with the right foundation.
