Oral & Dental care
Oral care probably is the most ignored aspect of personal hygiene as most people believe that brushing once in the morning is good enough. In fact, it is a must to brush your teeth at least twice a day – once in the morning and once after dinner – with a good quality low abrasion toothpaste and a good tooth brush. In addition, you may brush your teeth after every meal without using tooth paste. Regular brushing arrests tooth decay and help build strong teeth without cavities.
While brushing it is important to brush your gums as well to maintain good blood flow that in turn helps to make your teeth stronger.
You have to keep changing your tooth brush at least once in two to three months or as soon as the bristles start to bend.
Regular flossing is very important to keep your teeth strong and plaque free. And those who are suffering from bad breath should consider using an appropriate mouthwash after consulting your dentist.
Any issue related to your mouth or teeth should be consulted with a dentist as soon as you notice it. Many times, getting the treatment at the right time can save you a lot of money and help reduce pain.
Avoid using tobacco products and smoking for better oral hygiene.
Nail care
You have to keep your finger nails trimmed and ideally it’s good to do it once a week. Since you use your hands for most of the tasks, the finger nails are the favorite hideouts of germs and it is difficult to clean longer nails.
While trimming your nails, never pull off the little remaining or hanging nails near the cuticle but cut them off using the nail trimmer. Pulling hanging nails can be painful but more importantly can cause infection at the nail roots.
Hair care
Hair care needs some detailing that we could cover in another article altogether. To keep it short, it is important to wash your hair regularly with a mild detergent shampoo. Ideally, washing hair twice or thrice a week may be good enough but depending on your exposure to dirt and dust and type of your scalp you may have to do it on a daily basis.
Dandruff is one of the most threatening and hygienic issue with hair. We shall talk about that topic sometime soon.
Personal hygiene is all about good habits and hence something that you have to practice as kids. Hygienic lifestyle prevents you from getting sick from time to time and gets you good friends and fame.
